ANOTHER BRICK IN THE RED WALL #10
kevin davies
Hometown: Caerphilly
Club You Support: Trethomas Bluebirds and Cardiff City, until they got to the Premier League, I lost interest in the money driven game after over 40 years as a season ticket holder.
First Wales away: Belgium, March 1991, we drew 1-1.
Wales away caps: 60
Favourite Wales away trip: Israel as 1 game straight trip but China, New York, California and all 4 of the charity drives have all been memorable
Favourite Wales away memory: On the last charity drive to Georgia, we were marooned on a Ukrainian trucker ferry for 6 days crossing the Black Sea and only made it to Georgia the day before the game and still had to drive from Batumi to Tbilisi via Kutaisi. I’m one of only two people, Tim Hartley being the other, that has done all four charity drives.
Favourite all time player: John Charles, even though I never saw him - my father said him, George Best and Stanley Matthews were the best. From my era Aaron Ramsey, a Caerphilly boy.
One essential Wales away item: Bucket hat and of course, your passport.
Favourite band: Radiohead
Band we should be listening to: Ah, got to be Radiohead
One surprising fact about you: I once scored a goal at Somerton Park in a 9-1 defeat when playing under 18 football. I’m also fascinated by the sport of curling and watch it on television whenever I can, bit of a plastic follower as I have never been to see it live.
