ANOTHER BRICK IN THE RED WALL #16
NATHAN DAVIES
Hometown: Blackwood
Current Location: Whitchurch
Club You Support: Cardiff City
First Wales away: Netherlands, 2014
Wales away caps: 14 (As well as Euros)
Favourite Wales away trip: Bordeaux, the whole day was surreal. Beautiful place, bars overflowing with Carlsberg. The trams heading to the stadium, boisterous with Slovaks, Welsh and French all enjoying the occasion. Then seeing Cymru walking out on the pitch and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau begins, if only you could bottle that moment in time. Just winning a game at the Euros exceeded my expectations. Me and the old man headed to the fans park as many Slovaks and Welsh enjoyed a tipple and dissecting the game’s result. At the end of the night, we settled at a small bar until the later hours. With our motel a couple of miles out from the centre, no public transport and pricey taxis, the bar owner closed the bar for the night and took us to our motel in his weathered Fiat Uno. Magical.
Favourite Wales away memory: The KGB bar and the Wild Thing Karaoke bar in Bratislava 2019. From red flags draped all over the shop and homages of Lenin to smashing out Erasure till the early hours. Cheap drinks and having a smashing time with your mates, you can’t beat it.
Favourite all time player: Robert Earnshaw (Just don’t bring up that miss against the Saes)
One essential Wales away item: Bumper pack of Paracetamol
Favourite band: Manic Street Preachers
Band we should be listening to: DMAs, Bad Religion, Blossoms, IDLES
One surprising fact about you: Played football at the Millennium Stadium three times and still haven’t won a match there.
